Two Irish men have married in Dublin to avoid paying €50,000 in inheritance tax on a house.

Best friends Matt Murphy and Michael O’Sullivan are both heterosexual, but decided to get married when they discovered how much tax would have to be paid on the house Murphy, 83, intended to leave in his will to O’Sullivan, 58, who is his carer.

“I’ve known Matty for 30 years. We became very friendly after my second relationship broke up,” O’Sullivan, a father of three, told the Irish Mirror.

Gangster drama Peaky Blinders tells the tale of Thomas Shelby and his criminal gang.

Mesmerising and dark, the series is set in the streets of post-war Birmingham on the verge of the 1920.

But the fictional characters viewers have grown to love echo a truth that is just as dramatic, bloody and compelling as the BBC’s weekly plot lines.

Historian Carl Chinn has researched the real story behind the glamorous series – and admits he is impressed by how much good the programme has done for his beloved hometown, the Birmingham Mail reports.

The Disturbing Link Between Psychopathy And Leadership

Victor Lipman , CONTRIBUTOR

I write about management in its many forms.  Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own.

It is not the image we like to have when we think of business leaders. But troubling research indicates that in the ranks of senior management, psychopathic behavior may be more common than we think – more prevalent in fact than the amount such seriously aberrant behavior occurs in the general population.

At first blush this may seem counterintuitive, even outrageous. We tend to think of psychopathy as the province of criminals, with leadership qualities that may land someone atop a fringe religious cult, say – not in a boardroom. But before discussing the research, let’s consider for a moment why this [...]

Jordan Belfort says Bitcoin is the biggest scam going.

Jordan Belfort said ICOs, a new fundraising method linked to cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, are "far worse than anything I was ever doing".

The American stockbroker immortalised in the film The Wolf of Wall Street has warned that the craze for initial coin offerings has become “the biggest scam ever”.

Jordan Belfort said ICOs, a new fundraising method linked to cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, are “far worse than anything I was ever doing”.

Mr Belfort, who was played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2013 film, spent 22 months in prison for crimes including fraud after running scams that cost investors around $200m (£150m). Since leaving prison he has earned millions as a motivational speaker and author.

ICOs involve a company issuing cryptographic tokens, usually in exchange for a cryptocurrency like bitcoin or ether, as an alternative to selling shares or raising debt. Those cryptographic tokens can then be separately traded, or exchanged for services from the company itself.

Thailand tops deadly roads list

A Thailand foundation battling to reduce road fatalities has called on the government to enforce road safety laws in the lead-up to Christmas and New Year holidays.

Thailand’s Don’t Drink and Drive Foundation, director general, Thaejing Siripanit, told a seminar at the weekend that around 22,000 Thais will die on the roads in 2017 an average of 60 per day, but the daily toll will peak during the New Year holiday.

The foundation wants the government to introduce regulations forcing vehicle owners to install dash cam to record driving habits and bear witness to accidents, as well as shaming dangerous drivers.

Enforcing laws that are already on the books was cited as a priority to reduce [...]

It’s that time of year again where dealers get all itchy to sell cars. The calendar is about to turn over to 2018 and with many dealers stuck with 2017s on the lot, the last thing they want to do is carry that inventory over another year. This year things are even tougher for dealers because of a shift in the market and a glut of used cars coming to market.

Think back to the pent-up demand that started to let loose during the economic recovery from 2013 to 2015. Car sales, particularly in the luxury space, started to pick up nicely. Low-interest rates and enticing offers put consumers in the driver’s seat. Fast-forward a few years later and now you’ve got a problem. A lot of those inexpensive lease deals are over and now those [...]
